Tullow Ghana , the lead operator in the deep water Jubilee Field has discovered condensed oil and gas in its Wawa-I exploration well. The well falls within Tullow’s Deepwater Tano license.
The Wawa-I exploration well is also close to the Tweneboa- Enyenra-Ntomme which is christened ‘ Project TEN’ and currently being developed for drilling works to start.
A statement from Tullow plc, the mother company of Tullow Ghana, issued in London, United Kingdom, and copied to the Daily Graphic said Wawa-I exploration well in the Deepwater, Tano licence offshore Ghana “ has intersected oil and gas –condensate in a Turonian turbidite channel system.”
It said the Wawa-I encountered 20 metres of gas condendate pay and 13 metres of oil pay in turbidite sands.
“ Samples show the oil to be good quality between 38 and 44 degrees API. The well was drilled 10 kilometres north of the Enyere-3A well, testing the previously undrilled . Pressure data shows that it is a separate accumulation from the TEN accumulation from the TEN fields ,”the statement added . The API –the America Petroleum Institute – measures the quality of crude oil.
The statement said the well would now be suspended for possible future use in appraisal and development operations.
