Following a success launch of the Petroleum register on Monday 5th February, the Petroleum Commission of Ghana, on a mission to deepen the transparency in the upstream sector held its maiden Local Content and Procurement Conference on Monday at the African Regent Hotel, Accra.
The Conference was in accordance with Regulation 40 of the Petroleum (Local Content Participation) Regulations, 2013 (L.I 2204) and the Commission’s agenda to promote local content and participation in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
The objective of the conference sought to shed more light on the contract procurement procedures on oil giants such as ENI, Tullow, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Springfield, Technip etc. as well as their procurement plans for 2018. This afforded the local companies present the opportunity to clearly understand what it takes to bid for and secure a contract within the upstream sector, thereby strengthening local content participation.
Mr. Alvin Mingle, Contract & Procurement Manager for Tullow Oil delivered a succinct presentation that highlighted the company’s procurement process.

There was Q&A session after each presentation, which allowed the audience to engage with the heads of departments/ representatives for clarity.
