The youth of Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region are set to be trained to take advantage of opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
Sigma-Base Technical Services Ghana Limited, a company registered with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), which trains the youth of Ghana to acquire skills, is currently recruiting young men and women in Techiman Municipality.
According to Ebo Haizel Ferguson, Director of Sigma-Base, his outfit is already working with Harvard Marine Petroleum Training Institute to train the youth.
He said since the oil and gas industry will open the way for many people to get employment in the sector, the youth should take the training seriously. He said the laying of pipelines from offshore to Bonyere in the Jomoro District of the Western region will also offer many opportunities to the youth.
He appealed to the youth of Techiman to take up jobs in the industry, explaining that the industry will offer about 17,150 jobs on the downstream sector alone but one can be employed if he or she acquires the requisite skills.
