Nigeria has cut gas supply to Ghana over indebtedness, according to reliable information available to Citi News.
The latest development means Ghana will lose about 600 megawatts of power from the country’s national electricity grid.
It is unclear yet how much Ghana owes Nigeria Gas Company but a recent lecture addressed by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia revealed that Nigeria is owed about $100 million.
This is expected to drastically worsen the current energy situation in Ghana because most of the thermal plants in the country run on gas.
