NEW Patriotic Party (NPP) youth wings in the three Nzema constituencies comprising Evalue Ajomoro Gwira, Ellembelle and Jomoro in the Western Region have condemned persistent media attacks on Dr. Ben Asante, who has been appointed as Caretaker Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Gas by some individuals.
The NPP youth in the three Nzema constituencies in a statement signed and issued by Sarfo Hayford, Joseph Nyanzu Blay and Amonle Armatey, stated that they found the attacks as not only an affront on the hard-earned reputation of Dr. Asante, but also a show of disrespect to the judgment of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to the group, the attacks on Dr. Asante by members of the Nzema Youth Association was a grand agenda to destroy the fortunes of the NPP in the three Nzema constituencies ahead of the 2020 elections
The added without any equivocation that those persons behind what they described as “serial unwarranted, malicious publications are known NDC and CPP/NDC activists who never wished the NPP well in Nzemaland.”
According the statement, the group employed the same tribal and ethnocentric campaign in the 2016 electioneering campaign but failed.
“We in the NPP believe that His Excellency is vested with the power and authority to appoint and disappoint, men and women who he so wishes to help in his government, after thorough background checks on the appointees.
“…We therefore welcome the appointment of Dr. Asante as the caretaker CEO of Ghana Gas and declare our unflinching support and cooperation to help him succeed as CEO for the benefit of all,” it asserted.
The statement noted that NPP’s major enemy was the massive youth unemployment in the area and hoped that Dr. Asante will bring his expertise to bear on creating an enabling environment to create jobs for the youth.
The statement called on all true party faithful(s), supporters, sympathisers and the general public to disregard and “treat with the contempt that it deserves any publication, agitation against the president’s choice for the job of CEO at Ghana Gas.”
