Oil exploration and production firm Kosmos EnergyHYPERLINK l "bizWatch-infoPopup" announced Monday that CEO and Chairman James C. Musselman has retired from the company, effective Dec. 31.
Dallas-based Kosmos said Musselman will be focusing on startup firms and entrepreneurial ventures, but did not elaborate. The company did not immediately announce his replacement.
Musselman co-founded Kosmos Energy in late 2003 with four partners. Under the team’s direction, the independent energy giant discovered and developed the Jubilee Field off the coast of the Republic of Ghana. The field was one of the largest oil and gas finds in 2007, the firm said.
"Kosmos is a dynamic business, and I look forward to the company’s pursuit of new initiatives with the same talent and enthusiasm the Kosmos team has exhibited during the last seven years," Musselman said in a statement.
