GOIL repositions for oil and gas industry
The Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) has embarked on a drive to position itself as one of the strongest brands playing in the oil sector of the country, the Southern Zone Manager of the company, Mr Enerst Asare, has said.
Speaking to GRAPHIC BUSINESS in Takoradi, Mr Asare said the company had started the rehabilitation of its fuel stations as part of the rebranding exercise in all the zones across the country.
The southern zone – made of Western and Central regions – he said, held a lot of prospects for GOIL “and we are working to make it first choice for commercial drivers, corporate institutions, the oil and gas industry as well as individual clients.”
Mr Asare said the company had already taken advantage of the emerging oil and gas sector by providing first-class services to most of the companies currently supporting offshore and onshore services.
“GOIL, in collaboration with Viking Offshore Support Services Limited, has set up oil tanks at the Takoradi Port to support port expansion project,” he said.
GOIL, he said, was also supporting the construction works of the Ghana Gas Infrastructure at Atuabo in the Western Region by providing fuel to the contractor and its subcontractors on the project to ensure that the project was completed on time.
“As we speak now, GOIL has strategically positioned its filling stations throughout the region to provide access to fuel for its clients irrespective of their location,” he said.
Mr Asare said the company’s depots at Takoradi would undergo a major expansion to enhance its storage capacity and also to supply ocean-going vessels directly from its depot.
As part of the plan, he said, GOIL would also construct bitumen plant to ensure that it served the emerging market, owing to the strong demand for the bitumen by those in the construction industry.
He encouraged Ghanaians to patronise the company’s products because GOIL was a wholly owned Ghanaian company with a proven track record.
