The Africa Centre for Energy Policy, ACEP, is calling for immediate technical audit to be conducted on all petroleum products service stations.
This is to ensure that those stations found not to be in compliance with safety standards are closed and their further existence carefully assessed.
In an interview with Radio Ghana, the Executive Director of ACEP, Benjamin Boakye, says stiffer sanctions must be imposed on owners of petroleum products stations who violate safety standards.
This is important to ensure that future explosions are avoided.
Meanwhile, Energy Consultant, Francis Agbenyo has called for the punishment of those involved in the negligence that caused the gas explosion at Atomic Junction.
He said the Regulatory Agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the Ghana Standards Authority must be seen to be on top of their work to avoid future gas explosions.
