A Policy Analyst at Penplusbytes, Mr Gideon Ofosu-Peasah has recommended to groups to choose appropriate dates to stage demonstrations.
“Usually after such demonstrations, radio stations discuss the event and issues which emerged. But the COPEC led demonstration was not discussed by most leading radio stations in Accra including Joy fm,Citi fm, Oman fm and Star fm because of the State of Nations Address,delivered by the President today”.
Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) , Leaders of drivers unions embarked on a demonstration on the morning of Wednesday, February 7, 2018; through some streets of Accra to demand the removal of the special petroleum tax and the petroleum price stabilization levy as well as to
register their displeasure about what they described as “persistent increase in prices of petroleum products in the country”. The exercise culminated in presenting a petition to the Ministries of Energy and Finance.
