HOUSTON (AP) — Anadarko Petroleum Corp. said on Thursday that it encountered about 240 feet of oil, condensate, and natural gas in an offshore exploration well near Ghana.
Anadarko has a 30.9 percent interest in the well. The petroleum was found in five reservoirs.
The company said the finds will be evaluated, and another test well is planned.
The well that found the oil was drilled to a total depth of about 10,400 feet, in about 2,850 feet of water. The partnership doing the drilling plans to suspend the well for future use and move the drilling rig for the other test well.
Anadarko shares rose 34 cents to close at $77.71.
