Tullow Ghana Limited, operators of the Jubilee Project and its partners have launched the Jubilee Travel Exhibition in Accra. The exhibition, among other things is expected to enhance effective understanding of the Jubilee Project and Ghana’s budding oil and gas industry.
The mobile education and communication road show would also bring the exciting Jubilee story to the doorsteps of Ghanaians and serve as a platform for education and information sharing on Ghana’s new status as an oil producer.
It will offer an opportunity to match the realities of the oil find with the huge expectations.
In an address, Ghana’s First Lady, Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills said in order to avoid pitfalls that oil discovery in other parts of the world had suffered, the government and its key players must be transparent in all their dealings.
“I think that the Government and the key players in our growing oil and gas industry have a responsibility to keep key stakeholders, and indeed the public abreast of developments and happenings in the industry. Transparency in this industry is important,” she said.
Mrs. Naadu Mills said Ghana as a country, has the benefit of hindsight and a lot of experiences to learn from.
She said through the efforts of Tullow Ghana and its Jubilee Partners, the Jubilee Project has been acknowledged as the fastest offshore exploration and development project in the country and also has attained the status of a world class project.
The First Lady commended Tullow Ghana and the Jubilee Partners for the travel exhibition initiative since it would serve as a platform to deepen the understanding of the project across the country.
The Jubilee Travel Exhibition was in response to the need to deepen understanding and ensure transparency around Ghana’s oil find.
The exhibition would be mounted in each regional capital for at least three days. Beginning from the Northern Region, it will proceed to the Upper East regional capital, Bolgatanga, and then to the Upper West Region before making its way towards the middle of the country.
During the exhibition, traditional leaders, NGOs, tertiary and second cycle students, local authorities, the media and the public would have the opportunity to learn more about the Jubilee Project.
Representatives of the Jubilee Partners would also be on hand to respond to queries from the public.
